Comment from Maeda Jun in the album:
Well, it was a song that required more courage to include screams. They weren't planned at the time of arranging, and you could say I forced them in. This time, it had been decided that a video of the performance would be made. So, I believed that a shot of Karen-chan screaming in the intro would fly thanks to her personality, and I included it. When I first saw the video, I thought it looked really cool. And when I saw Suzuki Konomi-san lip-syncing it at the half-anniversary event, I was blown away by how great it looked. It was the biggest answer to my doubts. Including the screams was the right decision. The part with alternating vocals at the end is longer in the album version because I had some regrets, so I lavishly made changes.
[1]: I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep this in English, but this song adds an extra "dan" to "dandan" ("little by little") in some verses to make it sound like an abbreviation of the song's title.
[2]: Unlike many HBR songs which extensively address a particular "you," most of this song feels like it could be a conversation with oneself (which doubles as the singer addressing all listeners in general). I've used "you" in such lines so that they sound natural but they're not explicitly addressed to "you" in Japanese, with the exception of this one line inviting "you" to the party. And I can't tell for sure if it's intentional but "party" can also take on the meaning of "team" in this context since they're setting off to find happiness, which is also a meaning that fits Chapter 2.
[3]: There are three "Dance!" in the single version and seven in the album version.
